The schedule for the development of the Corridor MPO Long Range Transportation Plan was approximately nine months. The project began in early October 2009, and was adopted by the Corridor MPO Board on July 15, 2010. The project was divided into four general phases, each about two months in length.
Phase 1: Issues and values – includes an assessment of historic growth and development, and an analysis of the region’s transportation system. Core questions are:
- How should the region grow?
- What are your aspirations for our community?
- What improvements are needed to improve travel today?
- What improvements are needed in the future?
Phase 2: Land Use and Transportation Alternatives - includes developing and testing alternatives to see how well they meet our regional goals. Core questions are:
- What key choices do we need to make?
- Which futures are preferred?
- What level of funding fits our expectations?
- How will we pay for our choices?
Phase 3: Preferred Alternative - Based on technical analyses and public comments, develop a preferred alternative and provide details on how to implement the plan in terms of project priorities and costs. Core questions are:
- How can we make the plan even better?
- What refinements are needed?
- What does our future vision mean in terms of specific project priorities and funding needs?
Phase 4: Final Plan Approval – The final plan is submitted to the MPO Board for review and approval. |
